In short: This website uses no cookies and no advertising, and loads nothing from third-party servers. A cookieless, self-hosted statistics tool measures reach; you can object to it below. There are no user accounts and no forms.

Hosting and server logs

The website runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH located in Germany; a data processing agreement is in place with Hetzner, and no data is transferred to third countries. When you visit, the server processes technically necessary connection data (including IP address, time and requested page). Ordinary page views are not logged. Only requests to typical attack addresses (such as probes for login pages of other systems) are stored with a shortened IP address for defence and deleted after 14 days (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). This data is not combined with other data.

Fonts, libraries, sound

Fonts and the 3D library three.js are hosted on this server; your visit does not connect to Google Fonts or any other provider. Sound is generated in your browser and only starts when you choose “Sound” or “Play”. Wikipedia links open wikipedia.org only when you click them.

Analytics

To improve this website, the self-hosted open-source analytics software Matomo is used. Matomo sets no cookies and shares no data with third parties. Your IP address is anonymised (shortened) before it is stored. The browser setting “Do Not Track” is respected: if it is active, no data is recorded. Recorded are the page viewed, the referring page, approximate region, device type and browser. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a data-minimising statistical evaluation of use).

You can object at any time. Your objection is stored in your browser’s local storage (key gf_notrack); as long as it is there, the analytics script is not loaded on this device at all.
